Eric West, Director

Dr. Eric West got his Ph.D. in geography from San Diego State University and the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2004. He started working at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) in New Haven at the Department of Geography in 2004 and is currently an associate professor in the Department of the Environment, Geography, and Marine Sciences. He has lived in Hamden since 2007.

Dr. West (or Eric) has published an article on using geographic information systems and statistics to assess the accessibility of various banks in Connecticut to different market segments as well as a book on the economic transition of Russia during the 1990s. He teaches urban and political geography at SCSU as well as courses that deal with the development of leisure and tourism, the historical geography of diversity in the United States, and map making. Dr. West has advised many undergraduate students and supervises them at internships throughout south central Connecticut, oftentimes at planning and zoning departments.
