Hamden’s Economic Development Plan Underway

The Hamden Economic Development Commission is working on a new long-range plan for the Town of Hamden that will guide future economic growth in Town. The new plan initiatives will be vetted with input from the general public and eventually be integrated with planning goals identified in the Town’s Plan of Conservation and Development. The Economic Development Plan will be completed and released in July 2015

Precision Grinding Solutions Moves to Hamden

Precision Grinding Solutions, LLC, who provides manufacturing and high precision grinding services using state-of-the-art equipment for a wide variety of industries, including aerospace, marine, medical, and oil industries, will soon be relocating to Hamden. Scheduled to begin property improvements in spring 2015, Precision Grinding Solutions, will expand current manufacturing operations and process capabilities, providing employment opportunities for highly skilled workers and apprentices in the region. With help from business incentives awarded by the Hamden Economic Development Commission and the Legislative Council, Precision Grinding Solutions will move to their new location at 16 Corporate Ridge and will generate in excess of $200,000 in capital improvements, and approximately $1,000,000 in personal property investments.

Rochford Field and Villano Park Restoration Project Underway

After a long planning process, Guerrera Construction will complete the soil remediation and restoration project at Rochford Field and Villano Park in Southern Hamden. The projects will include the restoration of the two parks so that they are healthier and upgraded for recreational purposes. Work on the parks began the week of November 24th under the supervision of the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Hamden Economic Development Corporation. The completion of Rochford Field and Peter Villano Park will be spring 2016.

Zero Energy House Funding Approved

The Hamden Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) is pleased to announce that they have secured funds to design and build a Zero Energy House at 499 Newhall Street. This state of the art, energy efficient house will be located across the street from the new Hamden Business Incubator on Newhall Street. Funding in the amount of $462,000 will pay for all costs related to the project including design and construction costs, including energy efficiency features. The home will be 1,800 SF and will include a single family house, a garage and an in-law apartment.

The Hamden Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) received good news regarding funding for the continued environmental work required at the site of the future Hamden Business Incubator. The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development awarded $350,000 to HEDC as part of the round of funding announced by Governor Malloy this week. The State awarded $27 million dollars to 20 projects statewide. The original requests totaled $75 million.
