Future Projects

The Hamden Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) is working on several future projects in 2021 and beyond.

Redevelopment of Affordable Housing Lots

The HEDC is working with Beaulah Land Development Corporation for the redevelopment and construction of 7 lots for affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families. HEDC will partner with Beaulah to ensure that families that need housing will have access to a home. The lots resulted from the demolition of homes that were structurally unsound. Previous owners have all been relocated to new homes in the Hamden area. Construction is expected to be completed in 2021-22. Beaulah has been active since 1994 providing housing and counseling services.

Tax Lien Sale and Redevelopment

The HEDC is working with the Town of Hamden on a plan for the assignment of tax liens for the purpose of repositioning commercial and residential properties so they will become tax producing properties again. HEDC has a track record of acquiring the liens, clearing title and cleaning up contamination on those properties while finding a buyer.
