Mikro Breaks Ground at Former Depot Site

MiKro, a craft beer and small plate restaurant located in 3000 Whitney Shopping Center on Whitney Avenue is expanding. Owner Mike Farber, Mayor Curt Leng, and others attended the official groundbreaking at the site of MiKro’s expansion at 0 Depot Road, on Sherman Avenue (behind Dunkin’ Donuts) on Thursday, June 22nd.

“It brings me great pleasure to see one of Hamden’s most popular and respected restaurants expanding here in Town. We are all very excited to work with Mr. Farber on MiKro’s expansion, and we look forward to the fantastic commercial and community impacts this project will offer to Hamden.”

The total expected investment in the property will be $800,000 and will include internal renovations and a large expansion. The Town of Hamden granted MiKro a tax abatement on the increased tax value of the property for three years with five years to pay it back. The Town also waived a portion of the building fees. The project will be completed in late 2017 or early 2018.

MiKro offers a variety of interesting brunch and dinner plates with a rotating lineup of craft beers from breweries in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and other states. MiKro has become a local favorite for an intimate pub setting with unique dining options.

“We’re glad that we were able to help Mike and his team with their plan to expand their business,” said Hamden Economic Development and Neighborhood Revitalization Director Dale Kroop. “MiKro is one of our most popular restaurants and we are glad to have been able to offer them help through the Hamden Business Incentives Program.”
