Updates on the Completion of the Skiff Street Bridge

Updates on the Completion of the Skiff Street Bridge

The Skiff Street bridge project is still going forward and will be finally completed in the summer. The Contractor is currently working on some final drainage work and road reconstruction. They will soon begin rebuilding the road on either side of the bridge and switching traffic over to the final road location.

The Town anticipates work to the completed before the end of August 2020. Delays were originally caused by additional structural field conditions and additional delays for winter conditions. This is one of Hamden’s largest volume roads and is a critical bridge to the Town roadway infrastructure. The public is not allowed to enter the restricted work zone. This is a safety issue with equipment movement and uneven surfaces than a virus restriction.

While we work hard to deal with the serious threat posed by the Coronavirus, I’m proud of our team also working to make sure projects can be completed that are important to our infrastructure and show that we’re still delivering the investments important to our community“, stated Mayor Curt Balzano Leng

The Town is hoping to continue some sidewalk repairs as temperatures rise and the contractors come out of winter shut down. When all contractors begin again, there will be continued worst spot repair locations as the final budget allows. The Town will attempt to provide notices to the affected residents at the construction locations.

The construction crews that are working are CT local, including the Skiff Street crew, which is from Central CT. The sidewalk crews are from North Haven and Hamden.
