Hamden Economic Development Wins Two Recognition Awards
One Regional and One International Award
We are pleased to announce that the Newhall Revitalization Program won first prize at the Northeast Economic Development Conference this past weekend. It was quite an honor to recognize everyone's hard work.
The Hamden Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) and the Town of Hamden has been recognized recently by two major Trade organizations for its work in the Newhall Revitalization Program.
The Northeast Economic Development Association (NEDA): September 10-12, 2016: New Haven CT: First Place, Community Program of the Year.
At its annual conference on September 10-12 The Northeast Economic Development Association (NEDA) , The Newhall Revitalization Program receive the Program of the Year Award for the 12 state northeast region, recognizing the ongoing efforts and success over the last ten year or work in the Newhall area of Hamden.
International Economic Development Council (IEDC): September 25-28: Cleveland Ohio: Silver Award Neighborhood Development Program of the Year:
IEDC is the recognized International training and Research Organizations in the world. This award is a highly coveted award as it represents International Economic Development professional and projects. Here is the official press release for the IEDC award.
This work included working closely with the parties of the Newhall Consent Order during the remediation process and by directly managing a large number of projects in the community including 234 Residential Remediation Projects
- 102 home Structural restorations
- The remediation and restoration or Rochford Field and Peter Villano Park.
- The construction of a Business incubator
- A Deconstruction Job Training Program
- A new Zero Energy House
- Redevelopment plan for the former Michael J Whalen Middle School conversion to 87 mixed income housing units and a Community Center
